Video: Indian PM expresses heartfelt gratitude to Nigerian govt, says visit to boost bilateral ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday arrived in Nigeria on the first leg of his three-nation visit at the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This visit is the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in 17 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Abuja, Nigeria. Warmly welcomed by Minister for Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who presented the prime minister with the ‘Key to the City’ of Abuja. “The key symbolises the trust and honour bestowed on the prime minister by the people of Nigeria,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a late-night post on X.
PM Modi while making his speech expressed a heartfelt gratitude to the Nigerian government and its people. In his statement, the Indian leader emphasized that the visit had reinforced the longstanding India-Nigeria friendship, paving the way for stronger collaboration in trade, technology, and cultural exchange.
“This visit has added strength and vigor to the bond between our nations,” the President remarked, highlighting shared aspirations and mutual respect as the foundation for future progress.
