In an effort to promote academic excellence and provide opportunities for disadvantaged students, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat – UAH, Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, has provided free GCE forms to underprivileged students in the community.

For the third consecutive year in office, free GCE tutorial classes were held concurrently at UNA Primary School, Iju, and African Church Primary School, Ifako, for hundreds of students.

This was followed by the distribution of GCE forms, which began with the screening and data capture of beneficiaries on Friday, August 30th, and will continue until Sunday, September 1st, to accommodate a large number of beneficiaries.

The exercise is taking place at African Church Primary School and the Local Government Secretariat, Idiagbon.

Alhaji Lawal Adelani, Supervisory Councillor for Education, represented Prince Usman at the event, where he encouraged beneficiaries to strive for excellence in the upcoming exams. He also announced the Council Chairman’s plan to recognize and reward outstanding students, thereby motivating them to achieve academic success.

This initiative is an annual tradition for the Executive Chairman, who has consistently provided free GCE and JAMB forms to underprivileged students in the Local Government, fostering equal access to education and opportunities for all.

Going beyond the provision of free GCE and JAMB forms, Prince Usman has consistently showcased his unwavering dedication to education and the well-being of Ifako-Ijaiye’s youth through a wide range of landmark initiatives in the education sector. These initiatives include the distribution of free exercise books, furniture, uniforms, and school bags; perimeter fencing and renovation of schools; the establishment of an arts and crafts centre and a public library; as well as the training of 100 public school teachers, among numerous other efforts.
