Manchester United are reportedly set to complete the signing of Watford’s highly-rated defender Harry Amass later this week.
Amass is seen as one the best young talents in the game, and a deal has been agreed for the 16-year-old, who made the club’s first-team squad last season.
It’s a blow for Watford, as Amass will be the second young prospect to leave Watford this window, after Adrian Blake rejected a professional contract with the club and joined FC Utrecht in Holland.
Under his current early scholarship deal with Watford, United will have to pay compensation to bring the talented teen to the club.
The Hornets were desperate to hang on to their teenage prodigy and had offered him a pro contract beyond his scholarship deal, but Manchester Evening News report that Amass in now on his way to Manchester.

Amass has been at Vicarage Road since he was nine-years-old and has already made appearances for the club’s U18 and U21 squads, including impressive performances agains Everton and Arsenal in last season’s FA Youth Cup.
He also made the first team squad for their 2-0 FA Cup Third Round defeat to Reading last season, where he was an unused sub.
Amass is expected to be part of England’s squad for the U17 World Cup, which takes place this summer, having already featured for England at youth level.
He made his debut for the U15 side, aged 14 in December 2021 and is currently part of the England U16 set-up.
