Government after government, the cycle of retrogression continues. Each administration seems to echo the same disappointing refrain, with the previous always appearing better than the current.
From OBJ to GEJ to PMB, and now PBAT, the narrative remains the same: misguided policies that drag the nation backward rather than propel it forward.
It often appears that the primary goal of these leaders is not to serve or improve the lives of Nigerians, but rather to attain the prestigious title of ‘President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’ The allure of the office, with its power and privileges, seems to be the ultimate prize—more important than the responsibility that comes with it.
For them, reaching this position is seen as a lifetime achievement, the pinnacle of personal success. Yet, once they ascend to power, the same disheartening pattern emerges: they undermine the nation’s progress, make decisions that stifle development, and then quietly retire with their gains, indifferent to the damage left in their wake as they await the inevitable end of their days.
However, the truth remains: no matter how long one reigns or lives, life in this world is very brief compared to the eternity of the hereafter, where every action will be accounted for, and no title or wealth can shield them from the ultimate reckoning.
